Tournament Chess

Teacher: NSCF Instructor

Grade: 4-5

Class Size: 20

Total Enrollment: 20

Schedule: Fridays (Lunch/Recess)

If your child is in grades 4-5 and is enthusiastic about chess, he or she may enjoy participating in the tournament class. The tournament class is designed for students with some tournament experience who would like to continue to improve their game and participate in tournaments. Those students interested in joining the Bronxville Chess Team at the U.S. National Championship in the Spring may want to consider the tournament class, and should commit to participating in a number of local tournaments in order to train for Nationals. Click “About Tournaments” on the Navigation Panel to the left for more information, and feel free to contact us at with any questions. The Club places great emphasis on sportsmanship and team building as a cornerstone of its program. Please note that enrollment in the tournament class is subject to review. Tournament Level classes meet during lunch/recess on Fridays.  Based on enrollment the class may combine grades 4 and 5. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring a packed lunch so they do not miss out on instructional time and create a disruption to the class when coming in late from the cafeteria. Parent volunteers are needed, helping to ensure a fun and productive session. Parents will receive a Signup Genius request once the classes are formed. Please consider being a chess helper for your child’s class. Thank you in advance!
